Colleen Manning – Trustee

 

Colleen became involved with the OMCIL since 1997 as a consumer. Colleen became a full time volunteer in 1998 and was honored with the volunteer of the year award in 2000. Because she utilizes public transportation she is aware of the problems surrounding the use of public transportation. She works as an activist for available, affordable public transportation for people with disabilities. She also attends multiple ADA trainings and became a Certified ADA Specialist during her time as a volunteer. 

Colleen has served on the Board of Trustees since 2001 in various positions including Secretary, Vice- Chair, and Chairperson and now serves as a Trustee. 

Colleen, a Registered Nurse and Case Manager, has worked at Mt. Clemens General Hospital for 3 years and Detroit Receiving Hospital in the Medical ICU for 8 years and was promoted to Patient Care Coordinator for 2 years before her disability occurred. 

She considers herself one of the luckiest people on earth as she found the true love of her life and guardian angel, Mike. Colleen and Mike built and live in a beautiful wheelchair accessible home in Chesterfield Township, MI and enjoy life to the fullest.
